Davidson Art Camp

Davidson Art Camp was created by two teachers, who after becoming new moms, gained a new outlook on education. Together we are optimists, go-getters and concerned citizens who share a desire to escape the boundaries of the classroom. As friends and as mothers, we hope for our own children's future, and strive to make the world a better place, one camp at a time. Our mission is to provide high quality, curriculum-based camps that are responsive to the needs of the children in our community. Through multi-faceted art projects, it is our goal to educate and intrinsically motivate children to nurture, appreciate and respect human diversity and their environment. As our camps evolve, our values stay the same: to teach and inspire children in ways that promote personal growth and address the needs of their community. What more can we say? We love what we do. - Jennifer & Kristin

Fashion Week is always....

Such a tease. While some believe it makes the end of winter a bit more bearable, we find the Spring runway merely whets our appetite. Left with only mental images of full-bodied skirts, wide-legged trousers, and vibrant colors, we eagerly await the arrival of refreshing trends.

Join us for the next 26 days as we stop and savor the view from Fashion Week 2011 with an A-Z Spring/Summer-inspired virtual runway. We hope it will make the end of winter a bit more bearable for all.

Jumping for Joy!

Do you consider yourself a fashion enthusiast?

We do.

We scour fashion magazines and blogs with a purpose -- with hungry
intent. The mere thought of Spring fashion delivers a new sense of
self. While you may consider us single-minded -- the idea of "In with
the new out with the old" couldn't be more invigorating.

In with Spring fashion means in with new trends -- some fantastic and
some not-so-fantastic. But, coming from women who love fashion, hear
this --- 2011 is shaping up to be one incredibly fashionable year.

Look for designers to abandon the flamboyant and outrageous Lady Gaga-
inspired looks for an altogether 1970s feel --- think minimal whites,
flowy dresses, bold colors, and wide legs.

We can't wait. How about you?

Play dress-up with crazy-cool accessories and over-the-top nails

Fashion Inspiration from Frida Kahlo

Kahlo was a Mexican painter, best known for her self-portraits and their intense, vibrant colors.
When she dressed each day, she paid close attention to both her jewelry and her nails - variously painting them purple, green, and even orange, depending on what best matched what she was wearing that day. She used to say "she dressed de chango, like a monkey, for fun, in a silly and playful way,"

She was as resplendent as a rainbow.

The Secrets Behind Designer Inspirations!

Inspirations for designers come from the most unique of places. One designer was inspired by the colors she saw in a sunset, another found inspiration while researching images of plant life. No matter what our surroundings, we can find ideas for the next masterpiece.

The fashion icon CoCo Chanel said, “Fashion is not simply a matter of clothes; fashion is in the air, born upon the wind. It is in the shy and on the road.” CoCo found inspiration from the simplicities of her everyday life. From the closets of her friends to the time she spent outdoors on fishing trips, CoCo never stopped looking for ideas.

As fashion camp fast approaches, we want you to start thinking of what inspires you. What are the secrets of your latest design idea? What is your muse?
